I wrote a letter to my Grandad, which I sealed inside the box, and then sent it to him.

Mr and Mrs Bower - Board

 This collage board was created using all the old postcards my Grandparents have sent me during their travels. I found the layering of the different colours and shapes created an interesting surface pattern which I decided to develop further. Using inspiration from David Mach I constructed a three-dimensional postcard using photographs taken of each sixth of the board. (some examples shown above)

Ideas, Meanings and Materials- Arte Povera

Arte Povera was a revolutionary Art movement where artists deliberately used methods and materials that were unconventional. This assignment requires me to explore my surrounding environment for things I respond to through colour, texture or shape from which I then translate into seriously considered ideas using appropriate materials. In relevance to this project I have looked at artists such as Tom Friedman, Mario Merz, Ruth Broadbent, Joseph Cornell and David Mach.
